Are you wondering how to use a shampoo bar? - Shop NO Plastic

Swapping to shampoo bars is not only kind to your hair, but also your pocket and the planet.

Switching from your traditional liquid shampoo to a shampoo bar is a giant leap in your journey to reduce plastic and will undoubtedly leave you with questions. The first one is how to use a shampoo bar?

Instructions

  • Thoroughly wet your hair
  • Rub the shampoo bar between your hands
  • Smooth out the lather throughout your hair using your fingers
  • Gently massage your hair to distribute the lather evenly throughout your hair and scalp
  • Give a few minutes for the shampoo to work on your hair
  • Rinse and repeat

How to rinse your hair after using a shampoo bar

After shampooing rinse your hair with white vinegar or cider vinegar and water.

Work the vinegar and water through your hair, then rinse.  The vinegar restores your hair's pH as well as helping to detangle and soften your hair.

Make sure you rinse the vinegar out well. Once your hair dries, the vinegar smell fades.

Storage

Don't leave your shampoo bar in the tub or shower in a pool of water.  Allow the shampoo bar to dry naturally. I use a crochet bag.

Give your hair some time to adjust

When you switch from commercial shampoo with its detergents and chemicals, your hair will go through an adjustment period.   It can take several weeks to rid your hair of detergent residue, so please give your new shampoo bar time before you decide it isn't for you.
