June 8 is WORLD OCEANS DAY, the United Nations day for celebrating the role of oceans in our everyday life and stimulating action to protect the ocean and sustainably use marine resources.

The theme for 2020 is "Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean". The ocean is facing unprecedented pressures, from pollution to climate change. These pressures are only expected to increase in the future. The need to balance the preservation of a healthy ocean and ever-increasing economic activities requires fresh approaches and rethinking in many areas.

World Oceans Day is growing the global movement to call on world leaders to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030. This critical need is called 30x30. By safeguarding at least 30% of our ocean through a network of highly protected areas, we can help ensure a healthy home for all!
